He m. Margaret Lyon and was father of,
1. Robert Stewart, 2nd of Eday,
2. John Stewart of Newark, served as a Colonel in the army and disponed his lands of Howbuster to his brother, Captain Robert Stewart, styled eldest son of Sir James Stewart, on 7 June 1653.3 He acquired those of Newark and d. before 4 July 1663 having had issue,
2a} Robert Stewart of Newark. He, his brother, John, and their sisters Margaret, Beatrice and Jean, all being under age at their father’s death they were placed under the care of their paternal uncle Colonel Robert Stewart on 4 July 1663. He was served heir general to his father on 29 January 1667.

3. Mary Stewart, m. in 1639, to Alexander Bothwell of Glencorse, and had issue.

5. Jean Stewart, m. firstly, to Sir James Young of Seaton, and secondly, to Major George Crichton of Arbeckie, and also surviving him, she m. thirdly, to Frederick Lyon, 1st of Brigton, (he was widower of Margaret, daughter of Patrick
Ogilvy of Inchmartin, by whom he had issue).
