He was the younger son of Sir John Stewart of Innermeath and Lorn, and was shield-bearer to Archibald, Earl of
Douglas. He m. Margaret, daughter of John Hay of Tulliebody,
THOMAS STEWART, 2ND OF GRANDTULLY, had succeeded his father by 19 July 1449.
