NINIAN, SHERIFF OF BUTE AND ARRAN.
He was married three times, and left several Sons
a) James, who succeeded JAMES, Sir James .
b) Robert, ancestor of the Stewarts of Ambrismore.
c) Archibald, ancestor of the Stewarts of Largilzane.
d) Alexander.
e) Ninian, ancestor of the Stewarts of Antrim, Ascog, Ballintoy, Kilcattan, and perhaps Castlereagh.
Arms: of Stewart of Ascog, as recorded 1672-77.-Gold, a fess chequy blue and silver, within a black bordure charged with eight silver mascles. CREST: A greyhound couchant within two branches of bay proper. MOTTO: "Fide_et_ opera" (Lyon Register).
